The Adamant Lodge is located about 360 kilometres west of Banff, situated at the intersection of four valleys. The Heli-Hiking is in the Selkirk Mountains, famed for long glaciers, deep valleys, and rugged vistas.

The Adamants are part of Selkirks, which are part of the Columbia Range, which is a familial range of the Canadian Rockies, which are part of the great arc of ranges that begins in the Antarctic and ends in Alaska (or vice versa, depending on your point of view). This beautifully rugged region is crowned by 11,553-foot Mount Sir Sanford, a peak of Denali-like majesty, named for Sir Sanford Fleming, a pioneering official of "Canada's National Dream," the transcontinental railroad.

Accomodations:

The Adamant Lodge has 10 single rooms and 17 double/twin rooms, all with private bath, and hosts a total of 44 hikers. It's got a nifty climbing wall, an outdoor whirlpool, a games room, shop, cozy bar-lounge, sauna, and an endless supply of great wilderness scenery (both inanimate and animate; mammoth grizzlies regularly poke their heads out of the woods in sight of the lodge).

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1

6:30 am Pick-up from your hotel in Banff and transfer to the Adamant Helipad.

7:00 am Depart Banff - CMH Banff office.

7:45 am Depart Lake Louise Post Hotel.

9:00 am Depart Golden Husky gas station.

11:15 am (MDT) Depart Revelstoke Ð BW Wayside Inn. ( 10:15 am Pacific Time)
Snacks and lunch are provided onboard the motorcoach.

1:00 pm Arrive at the Helipad for your first helicopter ride to the Adamant Lodge
(12:00pm local Pacific Time). At the lodge, you are outfitted with all the necessary hiking gear. Following the helicopter safety talk, you are flown to breathtaking mountain scenery for an afternoon of hiking. Return to the lodge by helicopter at the end of the afternoon where snacks and beverages are available before dinner.

7:00 pm Dinner with wine is served family style, complete with pastries prepared by our pastry chef. Enjoy the company of fellow guests, or relax in the whirlpool and sauna before retiring to the comfort of your room. Overnight at the ADAMANT LODGE.

Days 2, 3, 4

7:30 am Join the optional stretch class to wake up your muscles!

8:00 am Breakfast buffet.

9:00 am The first helicopter leaves the lodge. Spend the day exploring massive glaciers, turquoise lakes and high mountain ridges with incredible views. Enjoy lunch picnic or barbecue style surrounded by spectacular unspoiled scenery. After a memorable day, fly back to the lodge where snacks and beverages await you. Take advantage of the amenities at the lodge before dinner.

7:00 pm Dinner is served! Enjoy the company of different guests each night as you sample the chef's choice of the evening. After dessert and coffee, share stories and experiences of the day with your newfound friends and staff. Visit the retail shop where you will find an excellent array of clothing and hiking-related items for purchase. Make an appointment with our masseuse (not included) or enjoy the peace and quiet on the deck as you watch the alpenglow settle on the mountain peaks. Overnight at the ADAMANT LODGE.

Day 5

7:30 am Optional stretch class.

8:00 am Breakfast buffet.

9:00 am A morning of heli-hiking and one last opportunity for photos.

12:00 pm Lunch at the lodge before getting ready for the helicopter ride out.

1:00 pm First flight out of the lodge.

2:00 pm Departure from the Adamant Helipad (1:00pm local Pacific time) bymotorcoach. Boxed snack provided for the return trip.

6:30 pm Arrive in Lake Louise Ð Post Hotel.

7:30 pm Arrive in Banff - CMH Office.

9:30 pm Arrive at the Calgary Airport or Delta Calgary Airport hotel.
