Whether you have a fly rod in your hand or not, this is an incredible place to be. Here you can experience mountains that reach the sky, pristine waters, hoodoos, ancient forests, clean air and excellent fly fishing. Welcome to the sunniest area of Canada, the East Kootenays located just north of Montana and Idaho in British Columbia. This Rocky Mountain setting offers diverse waters and beautiful scenery, making it a serious fly fisherman’s destination. The many rivers and lakes offer trophy size Cutthroat, Rainbow, Eastern Brook and Bull Trout fishing. Flyfishing River Drifts: Our trophy cutthroat rivers are the stuff of dreams for the dry fly fisherman. Cutthroat are plentiful and are looking up for the dry fly take. They reach up to 20 inches and aren’t shy to show you a tail dance. Catch rates are excellent at 20 or more per day. Bull trout also live in these rivers, we can show you how to catch one of these monsters; which reach to more than 20lbs. The trip consists two guests per boat, one in the front and one in the back on swivel seats for a 360 degree look at the water. The guide maneuvers the boat through a series of pools and rapids providing access to feeding cutthroat trout. Drift a variety of trophy waters with us, including the Elk and St. Mary’s rivers. Rates: $450 CA Per Boat (2 people) Duration: Leave at 9am and drift until dusk (8 – 9pm). Can make shorter if required by guest. Approx 10 miles of river during trip. Day Backcountry Flyfishing River Drift: An incredible trip for the adventurous fly fisherman This drift is a three day float with two overnights on a pristine river in the heart of the Rocky Mountains offering scenery that will awe you. This river rarely sees any angling pressure and offers vast mountain expanses, tight canyon walls and exciting rapids. The fishing is great for Bull, Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout. During the evenings beside the river enjoy the best of food and drink, campfire tales, music and the coziness of your sleeping bag. This all adds up to an adventure that should be experienced at least once in your lifetime. The window of opportunity to drift this river is narrow and varies from year to year usually August 15 to September 15. Contact us to make your trip a reality. Rates: $2025 CA Per Person, minimum group size 6 people Duration: Day 1-Leave Kimberley at 7am, travel to put in 2hrs, drift until 7pm, Day 2-drift 9am to 7pm, Day 3-drift 9am to 5pm, return to Kimberley 8pm. Approx 30 miles of river total Includes: Professional guides & Camp staff, All flyfishing & Snorkeling gear, Casting instruction, All meals & Beverages, and Transportation. Note: Camp mob and demob is made independent of guests. Camp is set up ahead of time by camp staff on day 1 and moves down river for the 2nd evening. Fine food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are provided, preferences for these will be discussed with guests before hand as well as a list of suggested personal effects to bring along. Fly Fishing: Enjoy the thrill of stalking trophy size rainbow trout in Caribbean color shallows of a pristine mountain lake. Your guide will maneuver you through this trout paradise in a custom 14 ft boat with casting platforms and provide the strategies and tools for the hunt. Enjoy the mountain scenery, loons and eagles and the take of a rainbow trout. Our favorite time of year for the lakes is during the early spring when the ice has just come off and the chironomid hatch is on, catch rates are excellent. As the spring season matures, casting nymphs and dry flies makes for a great way to spend the day out on the lake. By mid fall the waters are cool again and the rainbows are active feeding after their summer doldrums. Rates: $450 CND Per Boat (2 people) Duration: Approx a 10 hr day, includes travel. Adventures: A unique adventure for both the fisherman and nature lover. View the underwater world of the cutthroat trout and other species of fish as you drift comfortably down the river in a wetsuit and snorkel gear. A large guided raft is there to escort you from pool to pool. Flora and Fauna abound in this productive free stone river, along the way your knowledgeable guide will help with interpreting this natural world. River Drifts: Our Scenic River Drift is a great way to experience the beauty of a mountain river and countryside if you’re not the avid fly fisherman. Relax and enjoy your drift on the deep lazy pools and exciting small rapids of the St. Mary’s river. Enjoy the river side hoodoos, bird & wildlife viewing, old growth forests, pristine waters, awesome mountain peaks and the clean air of our beautiful valley. Your guide maneuvers you through this beautiful landscape on a comfortable large whitewater raft, providing natural interpretation and tales of the local history.
